Mahabharatha episode - 25
The Suta said: “Dvijottama! Hearing these words of Elapatra,
all the nagas were overjoyed and exclaimed, “Sage! Saint!” From then on, Vasuki
took great pleasure in protecting and nurturing the maiden Jaratkaru. Not much
time had passed since all the gods and demons had churned the ocean together.
Then the mighty Naga Vasuki was the rope to be used for
churning the ocean. Having completed that task, he went to his father. The gods
who were with Vasuki requested their father: “Lord! This cursed Vasuki is
suffering a lot of pain.
God! This curse, which has arisen in him, who desires the
welfare of his caste due to the curse of his mother, must be removed from his
mind. "This Nagaraja has always been our well-wisher and beloved. O God!
Give him the prasad that will remove his mental fever."
Brahma said: "O immortals! I have thought about your
words. When the time comes, Nagendra should do as the serpent Elapatra had said
before about Jaratkaru. By this, only the sinners, leaving the righteous, will
be destroyed."
Jaratkaru has already been born and that Dwija is engaged in
severe penance. Let him give him his sister at the right time. "O gods!
The welfare of the Nagas lies in what the Naga Elapatra said. There is no other
way." The Suta said: "Hearing these words of his grandfather,
Nagendra ordered all the serpents to search for Jaratkaru.
"Whenever Jaratkar asks for a wife, come to me
immediately and tell me. Our entire reputation depends on this."
