Mahabharatha episode - 24
The Suta said: “Hearing all the Nagas speak their words and
these words of Vasuki, Elapatra addressed them and said: "Neither this
sacred sacrifice nor the victory of the Pandavas, which is the cause of all our
great fear, can be stopped." King! A man afflicted by a deity should only
appeal to God, otherwise nothing else will come to his rescue.
O Pannagasattam! This fear of all of us is also God-given.
The refuge of God is the only way for us. Listen to these words of mine. O
Pannagasattama! When the curse was pronounced against us, I sat on my mother's
lap in fear. Then I heard the Lord say, "This is very sharp! Very
sharp!" Then that great light, sorrowful, went to the father and said:
The gods said: “Father! God of gods! What other mother, let
alone Kadru, could curse her beloved sons so harshly in front of you? "Father!
We heard you say, 'Let it be so, too.' We want to know the reason why you did
not stop it." Brahma said: "There are many poisonous snakes, fierce
and fierce. For the sake of all the people, I did not stop her."
Only those who are always prone to biting, who bite even at
the smallest things, and who have a lot of poison, are the ones who will be
destroyed. Not the righteous. When that time comes, ask how the serpents will
attain salvation from their great fear. In the clan of Yayava, a great sage,
renowned as Jaratkar, is born, brilliant, disciplined, and wise.
His son, a great ascetic named Astika, who is born in
Jaratkaru, stops this sacrifice and releases the religious serpents.” The gods
said: "God! To whom will the great and virtuous son of that sage, great
ascetic, Jaratkaru be born?" Brahma said: “O gods! That virile Dwijasattam
will have a son as virile as himself from a wife who bears his own name.”
Elapatra said: “The gods said to the father, “So be it.”
Having said all this to the gods, the father of the gods departed. Vasuki! I
see your sister, who is known as Jaratkaru. To remove the fear of the serpents,
give her to that sage Suvrata, who is wandering around begging for a wife. I
have heard that this is the key to our salvation.”
